Borat, Unleashed

Earlier today a news article featuring an interview with the comedian Baron Cohen, better known as his alter egos Borat, Bruno or Ali G, surprisingly came out of character today to give an interview in regards to his most recent and controversial movie Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. In the interview the underlining reasons for the making of Borat was disclosed as an attempt to highlight indifferences and prejudices towards other. Baron Cohen speaks in the interview of one particular song in the movie called "Throw a Jew down The Well"; and afterwards he disclosed that he is still a devout Jew who observed the sabbath and kosher laws and how he was born to an Orthodox Jewish family, He expressed that through this song he wanted to highlight peoples reactions and perspectives to such heinous thought and actions. In regards to the people from the bar and other aspects of the movie he quotes:

“The path to Auschwitz was paved with indifference.”

-Ian Kershaw, Third Reich Historian

Sadly, we may very well be living again in a world of indifference...
